Sector Corpus Christi is a multi-mission unit aimed at: Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Ports and Waterways Security, Marine Safety, Drug and Migrant Interdiction, and Marine and Environmental Protection. In an average year we save 101 lives, assist 554 people, save $11 million in property, interdict 34 lanchas, prevent 5,500 lbs of drugs from reaching the streets, and interdict 130 illegal migrants.

Sector Corpus Christi drives Maritime safety, security, and stewardship throughout South Texas. Sector Corpus Christi is one of two Sectors in the State of Texas. The Sector’s Area of Responsibility encompasses a 11,250 Sq Mile Captain of the Port Zone and runs Northeast to the Colorado River and to the South by the US/Mexico international border and extends 200 nautical miles offshore while also extending inland from South Texas through the entire state of New Mexico. Corpus Christi is home to the Port of Corpus Christi the largest U.S. port in revenue tonnage and the nation’s largest energy export gateway. Sector Corpus Christi ensures the maritime safety and security in and around the waters of South Texas by executing ten of the Coast Guard’s eleven statutory missions.

Future Outlook: The speed of innovation in today’s world is moving faster than ever before, Sector Corpus Christi is prepared to meet the evolving mission that South Texas presents. Our area of responsibility continues to see growth in Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) exports including expansion of an existing facility and plans to construct a new facility. Texas produces about a quarter of America’s LNG and has propelled the U.S. as the largest global LNG exporter.
As one of seventeen Strategic Commercial Seaports, Corpus Christi facilitates the movement of U.S. military forces throughout the world. Sector Corpus Christi’s efforts with federal, state, and local partners are vital to maintaining U.S. military presence throughout the globe as the nation focuses on multiple international threats.
