Directions to the base
From Savannah - Take Highway 17 traveling North (Savannah Highway) past the Riverview Holiday Inn (located at the foot of the Ashley River bridges before you cross the bridge). Stay in the far right lane and cross the bridge leading into the city of Charleston. This will put you on Lockwood Blvd. Follow Lockwood past the city marina and Amoco Gas Station. After the sharp curve on Lockwood to the left, which then turns into Broad Street, take the first street on the right, which is Chisolm Street. Go to the first stop sign and take a right onto Tradd Street. Go to the end of Tradd Street. Coast Guard Sector Charleston is located on the right at the end of Tradd Street. Free parking is available on Tradd Street within a short walking distance of the front gate. An acceptable form of identification containing a photograph is required for all persons entering the gate (no photo identification means no admittance to the facility).
From Georgetown - Take Highway 17 traveling South over the Cooper River Bridge. After crossing the bridge, continue on 17 South. Once you get to the crosstown (3 lane road with a lot of traffic lights) stay in the middle or right lane. Just before the next bridge, the middle lane splits left/right. Stay to the right, the left lane and left middle lane will take you over the Ashley River Bridge (do not go over the bridge). Take a left at the light at Lockwood Drive (before the bridge). Continue on Lockwood past the marinas and the Amoco Gas Station, After the sharp curve to the left, which turns into Broad Street, take the first street on the right, which is Chisolm Street.
