The Incident Management Division (IMD) is responsible for directing all Coast Guard incident response and mitigation operations, including Sector Search and Rescue (SAR), pollution, and all-hazards incident management response. IMD personnel coordinate with Coast Guard Auxiliary, federal agencies, state, local port partners, and maritime stakeholders for responses to pollution incidents, marine casualties, terrorism, natural disaster relief and mitigation, port contingencies, marine fire fighting, and marine transportation emergencies. IMD directs and oversees six Sector small boat stations including, but not limited to ensuring the professional training, qualification, and development of all assigned personnel and the operational readiness of all assigned assets (configuration control, operating limits and policies, and replacement of non-standard boats).
