Executive Officer


LCDR Lennie Day

Lieutenant Commander Day assumed the role of Executive Officer aboard the USCGC CAMPBELL (WMEC 909) in May 2024. Prior to this assignment, he served as the Enforcement Team Lead for CG District One Enforcement from 2021 to 2024, overseeing district policy for Living Marine Resources Enforcement and General Law Enforcement across five Sectors and 11 patrol boats. From 2016 to 2018, he served as the Military Aide to the Deputy Commandant for Operations at Coast Guard Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

His previous afloat assignments include serving as Weapons/Law Enforcement Officer aboard the USCGC ESCANABA (WMEC 907) in Boston, MA, from 2011 to 2014, and as Executive Officer aboard the USCGC KEY LARGO (WPB 1324) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, from 2014 to 2015. He is also a plank-owner of two Fast Response Cutters: the USCGC JOSEPH NAPIER (WPC 1115) in San Juan, Puerto Rico, serving as Executive Officer, and the USCGC BENJAMIN BOTTOMS (WPC 1132) in Long Beach, CA, as the Commanding Officer from 2018 to 2020.

During his enlisted service, he worked as an independent Information Systems Technician aboard the USCGC ALEX HALEY (WMEC 39) in Kodiak, AK, from 2006 to 2009, and at Electronic Support Detachment Charleston from 2009 to 2011.

LCDR Day is an alumnus and former varsity athlete of Mississippi State University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in 2004. He also holds a Master of Science in Quality Systems Management from the National Graduate School in 2009 and a Master of Science in Marine Affairs from the University of Rhode Island in 2021. He graduated from CG Officer Candidate School in December 2011.

His personal awards include three Coast Guard Commendation Medals and two Coast Guard Achievement Medals.
