Deputy Commander

 

Commander Lauren U. Fullam

Commander Fullam assumed the duties of Deputy Sector Commander, Sector Jacksonville in June 2023. As Deputy, she assists the Sector Commander with leading over 540 Active and Reserve Coast Guard members operating five Cutters, three Small Boat Stations, two Aids to Navigation Teams, and Marine Safety Unit Port Canaveral. Her area of responsibility spans 190 miles of coastline from King’s Bay, Georgia to Port Malabar, Florida, encompassing 40,000 square miles of ocean and inland waterways. Duties, responsibilities, and authorities of Sector Jacksonville include Captain of the Port, Federal On-Scene Coordinator, Officer in Charge of Marine Inspection, Federal Maritime Security Coordinator, and Search and Rescue Mission Coordinator.

Prior assignments include USCGC Harriet Lane, Sector New Orleans, National Strike Force Coordination Center, First Coast Guard District, Sector Mobile, and Coast Guard Headquarters, Office of Specialized Capabilities. 

Commander Fullam’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Coast Guard Commendation Medal, Coast Guard Achievement Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and many other unit and team awards. All of which she attributes to the remarkable Coast Guard members that she has had the honor to serve with.

A 2004 graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Government and in 2020, earned her Master of Science in Environmental Management and Science, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Rhode Island. Commander Fullam has two wonderful children, Jacoby and Isla.
